What is an ICP?
Ace Connections is an accredited Independent Connection Provider (ICP), what does that mean?
Ace Connections is an accredited Independent Connection Provider (ICP), which means the company is authorised to design and build electricity networks. ICPs work on behalf of clients, such as developers or businesses, to connect properties and projects to the electricity network.

We are accredited under the National Electricity Registration Scheme (NERS), managed by Lloyd's Register LRQA.
This accreditation demonstrates that Ace Connections meets industry standards and quality requirements for constructing electricity networks.
Contestable and Non-Contestable Works
Contestable Works:
Non-Contestable Works:
These are parts of the connection process that can be carried out by Ace Connections as an accredited ICP. Contestable works include activities such as:
-
Designing new electricity networks.
-
Laying new electricity cables.
-
Installing new substations.
-
Connecting properties to the electricity network.
Clients can choose to have these works done by Ace Connections instead of the local Distribution Network Operator (DNO). This introduces competition in the marketplace, which helps reduce costs and improve efficiencies in the delivery process.
These are parts of the connection process that must be completed by the host DNO. Non-contestable works typically include:

-
Reinforcing the existing network to accommodate the new connection.
-
Work on the existing network that is owned and operated by the DNO.
-
Any activity that directly affects the overall reliability and safety of the main distribution network.
Since non-contestable works involve direct interaction with the existing electricity network, they are mainly restricted to the host DNO.
